Chapter 7
Sheridan dug through a pile of hats and materials trying
on each as she went through the pile. As she put on each hat, she would admire herself adoringly in each.
Theresa, Paloma, and Gwen, all sitting at their work desks,
were staring at her as if she had gone mad.
It was the next day and the girls were just finishing up
a very busy day at Resa’s Designs. Although, all of the girls took note that Sheridan was acting
very strangely today.
Theresa went up to the front room to finish cleaning up
and the other two walked up to Sheridan, still trying on hats.
“Has she gone mad?” Paloma whispered to Gwen.
“I have no idea! She looks different today though.” Gwen
replied.
“What has Christian done to her?” Paloma giggled.
“Why do you think it’s Christian?” Sheridan said turning
around.
“I think you are up to something!” Gwen said.
Sheridan smiled and placed her arms around both of the
girls shoulders, “Gwen and Paloma, my dearest friends, could you keep a secret?”
“I’m hot for secrets!” Gwen said as all of the girls leaned
in.
Sheridan hesitated, “No! I won’t tell you!” She giggled.
“Oh come!!” Gwen and Paloma said in unison.
“Hey girls! It’s 7 o’clock you can head on out!” Theresa
said poking her head in the backroom.
Gwen and Paloma gathered their things and headed out the
door, but not without Gwen turning around. “We’ll talk later!” she said.
Sheridan just smiled and walked to the front of the store.
“Sheridan you can head on home!” Theresa said putting up
the cash register.
“I thought I would finish up some sewing.” Sheridan said
checking the clock.
“Do it tomorrow!”
“I’m in no hurry to get home!”
“I am! I want to take a nice hot shower. I have date with
Ethan after the fight.” Theresa said powdering her nose.
“Fight? What fight?” Sheridan said looking up quickly.
Theresa hesitated, “Ethan’s friends and the Fitzgerald
boys.”
“Why can’t our families just get along!” Sheridan said
slumping down.
“The feuds goes back decades.”
At that moment, Luis came running in from the back room
stopping abruptly seeing that Theresa was still there.
Theresa looked up and just gave Sheridan a questioning
look.
“I thought I would finish up some sewing!!” Theresa said
mocking Sheridan.
“I’m so sorry. Um..Good evening Ms. Martin.” Luis said
shortly.
Sheridan hurried over to Theresa, “You won’t tell will
you?”
Theresa glared at Luis for a moment, “Tell what?” She sighed.
Sheridan smiled lightly.
“You better be back at the mansion in one hour!” Theresa
said before walking out the door.
As soon as the door shut behind her, the lovers breathlessly
fell into each others warm embrace.
