Chapter 9
“Ethan what are you doing here?” Gwen said abruptly.
“Well, I’m here on business but I wanted to talk to you
about us.” Ethan said sincerely.
Gwen’s heart jumped. All she could think was “My God, I
need Hank here with me.” And she didn’t know why.
“Gwen.......I know how much I hurt you and I know you probably
hate me. But Gwen you have been and always will be my best friend. I’ve known you my whole life and we’ve been
through so much that I wouldn’t just want everything to end between us.”
“You made your choice Ethan and you choose Theresa!” Gwen
said angrily.
“But,” Gwen calmed herself, “Ethan for some reason I’m
not so mad anymore because I found someone who made me realize that you’re not the man that I was meant to be with.”
Gwen said she couldn’t believe the words that were pouring out of her mouth.
“You found someone?” Ethan said.
“Yes,” Gwen said getting up from her desk and walking over
to Ethan, “Hank Bennett has made me feel more things about myself than any person that I’ve encountered in my entire
life. Even you Ethan.”
“You found what you were looking for in Theresa and I found
it in Hank.”
“Thats wonderful Gwen.” Ethan smiled. “I still have one
question though? Do you think it’ll ever be possible for us to be friends?”
Gwen got ready to answer.......
“Ms. Hotchkiss? I’m going on my lunch break. “ Her secretary
rang in.
“All right.”
“Ethan, It’ll be a long hard road but we can try.” Gwen
said.
Ethan and Gwen stepped into a long friendly hug.
Hank walked into the waiting room of Gwen’s office. He
saw that her secretary wasn’t there.
He noticed the door to Gwen’s office was slightly opened
and he saw Gwen through the small crack and he saw her stand up and she disappeared from his view through the crack.
Hesitating he decided to open the door anyways.
And he felt like he was punched in the stomach.
There was Gwen and Ethan standing in her office in each
others embrace.
“Well, I guess I know the answer.” Hank said.
They broke apart. “Hank this isn’t what you think it is.”
Gwen said.
“Don’t worry about it Gwen!” Hank said angrily walking
out of the office.
“HANK! Please don’t leave I was going to come talk to you.”
Gwen said chasing him out into the waiting room.
“Gwen I don’t want to here it! In fact, I don’t know you!
Stay out of my life!”
“Oh wait you were already trying to do that anyways!”
Hank left the room.
Gwen fell to the ground in tears.
“What have I done?”
