Chapter 12
Theresa bounded through the Harmony Airport she didn’t
care who she bumped into. She was on a mission.
As soon as she rented a car, she raced toward the nearest
hotel. She couldn’t deal with anyone else right now the only thing that mattered was finding out the truth.
She shut the door to her small hotel room and her eyes
caught the local newspaper laying on the end table.
Engagement Party for Ethan Crane and Socialite Gwen Hotchkiss set
for this evening at the Seascape. The two will be married next week in what plans to be a unforgettable ceremony.......
She read over the article numerous times over and over
again. She placed the newspaper down and walked over to her suitcase. She pulled out the gorgeous white gown she
wore the night her and Ethan first made love.
‘Looks like I’m attending a party tonight.’she thought
to herself fingering the studded material.
Thats when she heard a knock at her door. She jumped at
the sound not knowing who could possibly know she was here.
She cautiously walked over to the door and opened it.
“Hank?!?” she said in genuine surprise.
“Theresa, we have to talk!” Hank said walking past her
into her room.
She shook her in head in confusion wondering so many things.
“Ethan?!? What are you doing here?” Gwen said leaning up
from the deck of the wharf.
“Gwen, you can’t do this. We both know we don’t want to
get married. We’ve fallen apart from each other and we’ve fallen out of love. Whoever the man is that gave you
those rings is more deserving of you than I am.” Ethan stated.
Gwen just stared at him in disbelief and she blindly fell
into his arms. They sat in silence for a few moments until she finally spoke up.
“Hank. Hank Bennett. I fell in love with him a while ago
and we got married recently in secret. I’m not Gwen Hotchkiss anymore. I’m Gwen Bennett and I don’t want to have
it any other way! Ethan, what are we going to do?” Gwen said looking up at him.
“We have to get the truth out tonight! This party won’t
last too long and by the end of it the world will know the truth.”
“Do you think we can do it?” she said.
“We will do it. For your sake and Hank’s sake. As well
as mine and Theresa’s.”
Gwen nodded her head now fully understanding what he’s
been thinking as well.
“Well, Mr. Crane looks like we have party to crash! Shall
we?” she said holding out her arm.
“We shall.”
“So, thats the whole story? Wow, it’s amazing how things
work out!” Theresa said after she listened to Hank relay the whole story of his courtship of Gwen.
“Yes so when I figured out that you and Ethan had been
seeing each other in New York I knew that I had to find you so that we can get the truth!” Hank said.
“The truth is what I need at this point! The party starts
in an hour. I say we get ready and head over to the Seascape. Being a married man and all you don’t mind being
my date?” Theresa said light heartedly.
“Who knows how much longer I’ll be a married man.”
