Chapter 3
“Aunt Sheridan!” Ethan yelled across the cafe.
“Ethan? Hey!” Sheridan jumped up and hugged her nephew.
“How are you?”
“I’ve been better.” Ethan said. Sheridan gave him a concerned
look but with his eyes he told her he wouldn’t talk about it now.
“Ethan. I don’t think you have met my sister-in-law Theresa.
She’s home from Columbia.” Sheridan said motioning towards Theresa.
Ethan stared at Theresa mesmerized by her beauty. He study
every feature of her from her long brown hair laying on her shoulders to her big sparkling eyes and glamorous smile.
“Nice to meet you.” Theresa said holding out her hand interrupting
his thoughts.
“Yea you too.” Ethan said quietly still staring intently
at her.
Sheridan stared at Ethan with questioning looks.
“Well.....I should be going.” Theresa said standing up
quickly and hugging Sheridan.
“See you at dinner tonight Sheridan.” She turned slightly
as she walked out the door. “It was nice to meet you Mr. Crane.” She said flashing him a dazzling smile.
Ethan thought he would melt, “Ethan. Call me Ethan.”
“See ya later Ethan.”
Ethan slowly sat down in his chair completely dumbfounded.
Sheridan sat back in her seat, “All right Ethan. Spill
it!”
Ethan looked at Sheridan surprisingly.
Theresa walked out of the Book Cafe and headed for her
car.
‘So thats the famous Ethan Crane.......Well he’s cuter
in person’ She thought as she placed her stuff in the back seat.
She had left so quickly because Ethan was staring at her
strangely and it made her feel as if she didn’t belong there. She loved Sheridan with all of her heart and knew
she was a good person but she never knew any of the Crane men and she personally didn’t care for them.
‘They’re all womanizers’ She thought as she stepped into
her car.
“Spill what Sheridan?” Ethan said surprisingly.
“Whats wrong with you? You’ve been acting strange lately.”
Ethan went into his recent chain of events with the Crane
family, Gwen, and his life in general.
“I’m so sorry Ethan. To have left you with all of that
stress.” Sheridan said.
“No Sheridan, you got away from the Crane spell and you
made something of yourself. You married your true love and you work at the youth center. You do things that you
love. You make your life the way you want it and now it’s my turn to do the same.” Ethan declared.
“Well, ok!! What is it going to be?” Sheridan said encouragingly.
“I don’t know yet, but I have this feeling that I’ll find
it.” Ethan said.
“Well, while you’re searching for yourself would you like
to come over and have dinner with me, Luis, Theresa, Miguel, and Kay?”
“I would love too.” Ethan said kissing Sheridan on the
cheek and walking out of the cafe.
Theresa opened up one of her suitcases and surveyed the
contents. She pulled out a pair of sleek gray pants and a turquoise ribbed turtleneck. She put on a pair of black
healed boots along with a rhinestone belt and jewelry to match. She sprayed on her favorite perfume and swept her
hair into a tight French twist.
As she finished up her makeup their was a small knock on
her door.
“Come in!” She said as she finished up her eyeliner.
“Theresa, do you have any shoes that I can borrow?” She
was cut off.
“Kay!!!!” Theresa said giving her friend a big hug.
“How are you?” Theresa said pulling away from her. “You
look great!”
“I’m fine Theresa. It’s so good to have you home!” Kay
said stepping into the room.
“Well, thank you. It’s good to finally see you with my
brother!” Theresa said slyly.
“Well, I’ve never been happier.” Kay smiled dreamily. “Listen,
even though it’s been a while I never got to tell you how sorry I was about what happened with Noah. It was a big
shock!”
“It’s ok Kay. I’m actually a lot better. Besides I have
major news to share at dinner tonight.” Theresa said excitedly.
“Really?? What is it?” Kay said inquisitively.
“You just have to wait till dinner! Now, lets find you
some shoes!”
Ethan knocked on the door of Sheridan and Luis’s home.
“Ethan! How are you doing?” Luis said opening up the door
and letting him in.
“It’s been good!” Ethan said shaking Luis’s hand.
“Hi Ethan. You’re the lucky one to be first.” Sheridan
said giving Ethan a hug.
“No one else is here?” Ethan said handing Sheridan his
coat.
“No the others should be here shortly.” Sheridan said heading
for the kitchen.
“Hey the big game is on tonight! Lets catch the kick off
before dinner.” Luis said as the boys headed for the living room.
As soon as they settled in front of the big television
their was a knock on the door.
“I’ll get it.” Luis said heading for the door.
Ethan stared through the doorway although he couldn’t see
anything. His heart stopped when he heard her voice.
She walked into the living room just staring at him like
angel.
“Hello Ethan.” She said smiling angelically.
He was speechless.
