Don’t Think I’m Not

Chapter 14

Gwen woke up the next morning around six. She hobbled out of bed and sat down at her vanity. Glancing in the mirror, she decided against a shower, and started to apply make up. After finishing her make-up and quickly fixing her hair, she quickly dressed in a comfortable outfit, a pair of loose jeans and a sweater.

She exited her room and entered the kitchen, expecting to find it deserted and unoccupied. She was more then surprised when she entered and found Hank already awake and making breakfast.

"Good morning!" Hank greeted upon noticing her entrance.

"Good morning." Gwen said still in surprise.

"How do you like you’re eggs?" Hank asked smiling.

"Scrambled. Glad to see you’re home. How was the training?" Gwen asked, sitting at the table.

"Gruesome. But, I’m ready. How was work? I figured that’s where you were when I came home last night." Hank replied.

"Busy. We’ve been working on the Luke Lentz case, and we’re finally getting somewhere." Gwen said, massaging her forehead at the thought.

"Yeah, they explained that case to me. Is there any connection between Wagner and Lonovich?" Hank asked, putting the eggs on the plate and bringing it over to the table.

"Not yet. We’re still looking. We’ve managed to prove he wasn’t insane though. That’s a start." Said Gwen, picking up her fork and taking a bite of the eggs. "These are delicious."

"Thank you." Hank smiled.

"Well, they are." Gwen said. The kitchen grew quiet, each person trying to find another thing to say. It was then that they realized they needed to talk about the kiss. Hank scooted his chair closer, so he could be next to her.

"Hank?" Gwen asked, air beginning to become caught in her throat.

"Yes?" Hank breathlessly whispered as he began to lean closer. She copied his behavior, and finally their lips met. It was an innocent kiss at first, but soon became more passionate, filled with need, want, and desire. Without breaking the kiss, they helped each other stand up, and closed the gap between them. She found her hands resting on his chest, and his hands found their way to her back and hair. After what seemed like an hour, they broke apart, huffing.

"I’ve wanted to do that since the day you left." Gwen admitted, resting her forehead against his own.

"So have I." Hank confirmed.

"Where do we go from here?" Gwen asked, pulling away and looking straight in his eyes.

"Well, let’s go anywhere but backwards." Hank smiled, causing Gwen to smile and laugh lightly.

Turning serious, she stated, "I want more than a friendship Hank Bennett. But, if you don’t, I -"

"No! I mean, I want more too. God Gwen, I’ve wanted more since the day I saw you in the bar. I just thought you were still in love with Ethan." Hank informed her.

"I’m so sorry you had to think that. I don’t want Ethan." Gwen confirmed.

"Well, that’s a start." Hank smiled.

"Let’s finish our breakfast. I don’t want all your cooking to go to waste." Gwen grinned as she sat down. Hank imitated her, and began eating.

"So, tell me something I don’t know about you Gwen."

"Um, there’s not much to know." Gwen admitted.

"Sure there is! There’s got to be." Hank argued.

"Well, I hate pees." Gwen stated the first thing that came into her mind.

"Good! Me too!" Hank laughed.

"Well, Hank Bennett, how about you? What’s something I don’t know about you?"

"Okay, I’ve lived in Harmony all my life, and left right after high school. I traveled the world, then came back a little over a year ago." Hank stated.

"So now we’re doing life stories, huh? Well, I’ve lived in boarding schools most of my life, until college, when I lived on campus. Then I moved to our Harmony house to be closer to Ethan. My best friend has always been Sheridan, I consider her like my sister." Gwen stated.

"Well, you’re story’s a little more interesting than mine I think."

"I don’t think so. My story is common for anyone with rich parents." Gwen shook her head.

"How ‘bout we agree that both our stories are not interesting." Hank said, choosing his words carefully.

"Alright, I think we can agree on that." Gwen stated, standing up and taking her empty dish over to the sink. She filled it up with water and began to rinse the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Hank stood up and brought his dish to the sink. He was about to rinse it when she took it from him. A shocked look came over his face, but he quickly suppressed it and smiled.

"Why don’t you go to the living room, and I’ll be there in a minute. We can talk more out there." Gwen stated, bending over to place a larger dish on the bottom rack. Hank’s eyes tracked her movement, and stared at her perfectly shaped butt.

"Hank? Is that okay?" Gwen asked, not looking back.

"Um, yeah. Okay, don’t take to long." Hank shouted leaving the kitchen and entering the living room.

Gwen shook her head as he exited. ‘Like I couldn’t tell he was staring at my butt!’ She laughed silently. She shut the washer door, and dried her hand on a towel. Sighing heavily, she entered the living room, and found Hank seated on the couch, flipping through the television channels. Gwen walked over to the couch and plopped down next to him. Subconsciously, Hank’s arm shot around her shoulder, and Gwen snuggled up against his chest.

"What are you watching?" Gwen asked.

"Just seeing what’s on. Not much, just a bunch of infomercials." Hank replied.

"Well, I don’t really want to watch t.v. There’s something more interesting holding me right now." Gwen stated looking into his eyes.

"I agree. To hell with the t.v." Hank said, turning off the television and throwing the remote onto the chair.

Gwen giggled, "Alright, let’s start from the beginning. I want to know everything about you Hank Bennett, and no skipping details!"

"Alright, if you really want to know...."
