You got some ‘splainin to do
Patrick walked Ivy home from the restaurant. He knew all her secrets. They had confided in each and become very
close. He felt so at ease with her. She was one tough lady and she had a fire in her eyes. Ivy knew all of Patrick’s
secrets too, but he hadn’t told her that he had made the connection between Sam’s wife and his long lost love Grace.
They were one in the same, but Grace Bennett seemed different than the woman he had fallen in love with all those
years ago in Boston. She had been a young adventurous, exciting woman. Grace Bennett was shy and reserved. There
was a sadness in her eyes. She looked happy with Sam, but she seemed haunted and broken.
Ivy noticed Patrick’s troubled face. She said, "What’s going on behind those Irish eyes?" She loved his
beautiful eyes. They made her feel safe and loved. She relished Patrick’s friendship. Patrick began, "I saw
her tonight." Ivy looked puzzled, "Saw who…what are you talking about?" Ivy had been on the terrace
when Patrick and Grace ran into each other, and by the time she came back into the restaurant Sam had taken Grace
home. Patrick had been very quiet at dinner, but Ivy assumed that he had a difficult day at the hospital.
Patrick explained that Grace Bennett was the woman from his past, the woman who broke his heart. "How can
this be?" Ivy demanded. "You’re telling me that Grace Bennett is the one…that Sam is married to your
first love?" It all made sense. The fire, the rescue, the mystery of her past. But all that was about to change.
This is what Ivy had been waiting for. Sam and Grace deserved to know the truth. But, Ivy was also sad, sad that
someone was coming between her and Patrick.
"Ivy, I can’t tell her now. She has to remember on her own, and I don’t want to hurt Grace or Sam. They have
built a life together. There are children to consider." Patrick argued. Yes. There were children to consider,
and Ethan was one of them. These days, Ivy cared less and less about Ethan’s political career and his clout as
a Crane. Patrick had shown her that power and money didn’t matter. She wanted Ethan to be proud of his father.
He needed to know the truth. "I have to tell Sam about his son. Ethan deserves to have a better father than
Julian." Patrick replied, "You can’t tell Sam that he is Ethan’s father. If Julian found out, he would
destroy you, you said that yourself. Anyway, Sam is happy with Grace now. If you really love him you have to let
him go."
Baby, Baby
Sheridan sat in Dr. Russell’s office. Her worst fears had just been confirmed. She knew she should be devastated,
but she was so happy. How could this have happened? They had always been so careful. It must have been that last
time before the kidnapping, which would put her at eight weeks.
"Sheridan" Dr. Russell said, "I realize this may come as a shock to you. Have you called Luis yet?"
"No, not yet. He wanted to be here today, but I told him not to come. I never in my wildest dreams thought
I could be pregnant." Eve continued, "You need to be back here in one month for you 12 week checkup.
I am going to prescribe some prenatal vitamins. Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have anymore fainting spells."
Much to Sheridan’s surprise, Luis was waiting in the lobby. "Are you okay, Baby? You were in there a long
time. What did Dr. Russell say?" Sheridan felt her heart start racing, "What are you doing here, Luis?
I told you not to come." Sheridan had just learned this shocking news, and she wasn’t ready to tell Luis yet.
How would he react? Luis noticed her distressed face. Maybe it was bad news. He couldn’t bear it if something were
wrong with her. "We can’t talk here, Luis. Let’s go home. We can talk when we get there."
On the drive home, Luis was tense. He had to know what was going on. He pulled over to the side of the road.
"Look, Sheridan. I have to know. Are you sick? Is it bad? Just tell me. We can get through this together."
Sheridan replied, "Luis, I’m fine. I’m just nervous about telling you." Luis tried to comfort her, "What?
What is it?" Sheridan blurted out, "I’m pregnant, Luis." She waited for his reaction, but he just
sat there. Was that a smile on his face or was he going to be sick? She couldn’t tell. "Well, say something."
"Are you telling me that we are going to have a baby?" Luis exclaimed. Sheridan looked away. "I
know that we were planning to take things slowly. I don’t know how this happened. We were always so careful."
Luis was beaming. "Screw taking things slowly. That’s not what I wanted. I just want to start my life with
you. A baby? We are going to have a baby! I want to tell everyone, Sheridan."
He hugged her and she could see the tears in his eyes. He was over the moon. She was relieved. Sheridan thought
about telling everyone, "No, Luis. Let’s get used to the idea first. My next appointment is in a month. I
will be twelve weeks along. Let’s wait until then."
Luis was crushed that he hadn’t been in the room with her today when she found out. He wanted to share every moment
with her. "I am going with you to that appointment, Sheridan. You can’t stop me." Luis joked. "As
if I would try." Sheridan replied. He was so happy. He had never been so happy, and he knew what his next
move was going to be. He already had the ring. He bought it months ago. He couldn’t face returning it after their
breakup. It had been burning a hole in his pocket for weeks. He would ask her tonight.
