Chapter 36
Theresa rushed into the ER with Ethan and Liam right behind. She rushed up to the nurse and begged for information
on Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald and Kay Bennett.
A tall blond nurse motioned Theresa into a small private waiting room already packed with people. She rushed to
her mothers side and then turned to look wide eyed as a doctor went over the updates on everyone’s conditions.
"I’m Dr. Alison James, I have been working on several of the patients brought in and I know you are all desperate
for information, but I will go over each patient thoroughly so please no questions until I have gone over everything."
She said.
"Our most critical patient is Reese Durkee, he sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and we were able to
retrieve the bullet and stop the bleeding however, he has lost a lot of blood and is very weak, he is in critical
condition until later tonight and if he shows improvement he will be upgraded to stable."
Jessica broke down in Reese’s mother’s arms at the news and wept quietly as the doctor went on.
"Samuel Bennett received several puncture wounds and we have been able to treat them satisfactorily, however
he has also lost a great deal of blood through the wound in his neck and we are requesting anyone with his blood
type, perhaps relatives, to donate blood. Mr. Bennett has the more rare blood type AB negative."
Ethan glanced over at Theresa and nodded, AB negative was his blood type as well and he whispered to her he would
go as soon as the doctor finished. Noah sat in shock and clutching Whitney’s hand.
"Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald and Charity Standish both are fine, Miguel was grazed by a stray bullet and the wound
initially looked bad but we cleaned it up and it appears to be fairly minor, they are both quite shaken up and
will be released later tonight."
Pilar and Theresa let out a breath and then both leaned on Luis who was still ridged with terror for Kay. He held
Ahnna in his arms and could still feel her blood on his hands as he had held her while paramedics arrived. Kay
had managed to stay conscious until she could hand off the files and pictures on Henry and Grace.
"Kay Bennett received several stab wounds and the wound in her shoulder is not bothering us however she may
have some complications from the initial wound in her abdomen. We have stopped the bleeding but there is some damage
to her uterus and it is possible that she may not be able to have children due to this injury." The doctor’s
eyes shot to Luis who held Ahnna, her heart went out to them, she had gone to school with Luis and knew the importance
of family to him and hoped his fiancée would recover. "She is asking for Luis and Ahnna so you two
come with me, but first what are our questions?"
The group burst out asking questions all at once and as they did Ivy slipped in the door and whisper her questions
about Sam to Pilar. She knew that Ethan would demand that she tell Julian she could tonight. She watched as Ethan
followed the doctor out the door to donate blood and she took his seat next to Theresa and listen to the nights
events.
