My Advice: Go go go and buy me a ticket!
Rating: out of
Okay, those of you who know me well know I have no business
reviewing this flick. To date I have seen it - please, sit down - twenty times in the theater alone and will be
camping at the video store September 21st as if I was awaiting a Mervyn's sale. ( 10.25.99 Webmaster's note....mark
that up to 26...and, yes, I took my sleeping bag. No need to worry!)
Let me introduce you to Thomas "Neo" Anderson (Reeves),
computer hacker extraordinaire. He's a cog in the wheel, just like you and I, until The Man of the machine, Morpheus,
(Fishburne) comes to visit. He brings with him a secret to end all secrets, and quite possibly Neo's life.
Reeves, who looks slimmed down and remarkably buff for this
part, carries his limited lines well. And, in all honesty, if not a one of these folks could act, who would care??
The movies marches nicely along on the most awesome special effects of this decade. Agent Smith (a great Hugo Weaving)
is a great antagonist for the film and although all of his lines are spoken in his "computer" like monotone,
he brings this character firmly to life. You want to pull the plug on him yourself.
The supporting cast is fantastic. Moss, as cyber-vixen Trinity,
will no doubt be the poster girl of modem heads for years to come.
I won't attempt to explain The Matrix to you. In fact, I can't.
It's a wild wild ride. I suggest you take it.
