LIFE
Directed by Ted Demmer
Written by Robert Ramsey and Mathew Stone
Starring: Eddir Murphy, Martin Lawrence,
Obba Babatunde, Ned Beatty, Bernie Mac
My advice: Go back to bed.
Rating: It gets a Lemon Award!!!
I'm going to make this quick and to the point.
After sitting though his horrible abomination and wasting away
100 or so minutes of my life I am now convinced we should just abolish the death penalty and instead punish
wayward souls with a mandated viewing of this "Life".
The entire time I sat there, I struggled with my desire to run
shrieking for the door. After my Dudley Do-Right experience, I had decided I was going to give every movie a redeeming
chance! Well, Life deserved as much a chance as Barney's Final Adventure deserved to be...well....final. So, I
slapped two couch cushions up against the side of my head, broke out the tequila, and waded on in.
While I enjoy both Murphy and Lawrence in other venues, I just
couldn't enjoy them here. Set back in the twenties or so - God help me, I really tried to pay attention -- it's
the story of two guys who get sentenced to life in jail for a crime they didn't commit. The rest of the film is
an embarrassment of off-color language, little humor and very little else.
I just can't go on. See Life if you want to. But don't forget
to bring the tequila.
