Well, let's listen to a story bout a small town Sheriff (Gleeson).
He's got a big old nasty gator hogging a lake that he can't share in. And then one day when the gator ate a diver
as some food, well out of a 'coptor comes a bumbling rube!! (Platt), that is. Set a spell. Let him bite your head
off. Ya'll come back now ya hear??
Dull dull ever so dull warden (Pullman) becomes involved and
is shortly followed by a paleontologist (Fonda). And she actually gets on the lake in a boat with these guys!!!
Girls, you know what I mean. One sight of this big sucker and I am on the next plane to Tibet. Let them catch it
themselves. I'll stick to the occasional loose guinea pig.
In all fairness, this movie comes from that genre of scary flicks
that is liberally dosed with humor. It's a hard seesaw to balance but they manage it nicely. The rapport is witty
and Brendan Gleeson proves to be more than capable as the exasperated Sheriff Keogh. Betty White proves once
again to be Golden. The movie, at times, is hers and hers alone.
I would normally advise this one as a rental but the masterful
special effects almost demand you see it on the big screen cause, dayum, that croc is huge. Go see.
